Pearsall Junior High School students get up close and personal with one of Texas Camel Corps instructor Doug Baum’s camels during a presentation at the Frio County Show Barn on Tuesday, March 5. The event is annually held on the grounds of the Frio Pioneer Jail Museum but was moved due to cold weather. The event introduces local youth to the history of the state’s early settlers and the development of a team of camels in the 19th Century to help open the American West. The event is also a prelude to Frio Pioneer Day, which is scheduled for Saturday, March 16
