“Investing into the community...”

The city of Dilley is set to gain additional income from the nation’s largest family detention center after entering into an administrative contract with the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to officially run the facility.

The contract came late last year after a lawsuit was filed by Guatemala woman who alleged her one-year-old daughter was provided with inadequate medical treatment while at the South Texas Family Residential Center, which subsequently led to the toddlers death.

At the time ICE had a contract with Eloy, Arizona, to run the 2,400-bed facility collecting $438,000 year. The contract outlines that Dilley will receive 50 cents per bed per day; currently there are 2,400 beds, which means the city is set to receive $36,000 monthly.
