Frio County Jail in compliance

"A year later..."

Following a year of failed jail inspections, the Pearsall facility has passed an unannounced visit and has met the minimum standards of compliance.

According to a letter issued by Texas Commission on Jail Standards Executive Director Brandon Wood, the recent inspection conducted by Jennifer Shumake on May 23, shows the jail to meet minimum standards.

“Please be advised that technical assistance was provided in some areas,” Wood noted in his letter. “The requirements review has been attached for your review to ensure that you are fully aware of the issues. Failure to address the technical assistance areas in a timely manner may result in the issuance of a notice of non-compliance.”

A May 11, 2018 inspection

resulted in eight deficiencies requiring corrective measures be made within thirty days.
