Ibarra tops field, takes office as new Frio County Clerk

On the eve of Angie Tullis’ retirement, newly appointed County Clerk Aaron Ibarra took the oath of office on Friday, May 31. It was four months into her fifth term of office when the tenured clerk formally announced her retirement, prompting commissioners to seek qualified applicants. Ibarra surpassed 11 candidates during May 17 interviews. The new clerk hold a degree in criminal justice from the University of Texas at San Antonio; has roughly two years of experience with Child Protective services as an investigator; and nearly four years as a Community Supervision Officer with the Adult Probation office.
