Houston, we have a problem...

During a routine traffic stop along Interstate 35 on Sunday, September 1, Dilley police found a cache of weapons and ammunition inside a vehicle.

According to a report on the case, a Houston man, identified as 25- year-old Alfredo Rodriguez, was traveling home from Laredo when officers effected the traffic stop.

During the roadside interview, Rodriguez allegedly consented to a search of his vehicle. It was during the search of the Chevrolet pick up truck that officers found two assault rifles and a handgun inside a suitcase. Along with the weapons, law enforcement discovered a large amount of ammunition. The search revealed six, 30-round magazines; one, 100-round drum magazine; and over a 1,000 rounds of unspent bullets, police say.

“This is scary,” Dilley Police Chief Armando Romo said. “Especially with all the shootings that have occurred over the recent months. I am glad we were able to get this off the streets.”
