Reyes to draft rules of decorum

“It is time we stop pointing at each other...”

Pearsall’s mayor pro tem has asked the city administrator to draft a set of written rules for conduct at their official meetings in an effort to address decorum.

The request was made during a Monday, August 26 meeting as part of the elected officials’ plan to improve decorum and promote a positive image of the city government.

“This was done in a workshop right after you guys won,” Mayor Mary Moore said to councilors who were elected in May. “It was brought back at the request of the mayor pro tem, which I agree. We have had lots of complaints about the decorum; we are a team and want to present like that, we need to revisit.”

According to Mayor Pro Tem Julian Hernandez, two years ago councilors developed a set of guidelines that outlined how the council would conduct business with the citizens of Pearsall, the staff, and council.
