WEEK FIVE

Pearsall got everything it needed for the week: a home game after three straight weeks on the road, a favorable opponent and its first win of the season last Friday, September 27 at Mack Laxson Field in a 25-7 decision over San Antonio St. Anthony.

“This is a big win for us, especially coming off three weeks of traveling,” PHS AD and Head Football Coach Edward Bocanegra said. “Playing at home, and it being Parent's Night, there was a different atmosphere and the boys responded, putting together a really good game.”

The Mavericks worked out their offensive issues, for the most part, in scoring a season-high 25 points in the win. The team did still show some growing pains as they had another drive stall at the three-yard line in the first half.

Defensively, Pearsall put together one of its more complete efforts of the year as well. The team held St. Anthony to seven total points and 148 yards of total offense.

Klayton Meeks led the unit with ten total tackles, including three for a loss. Ethan Waldrum had nine tackles and a quarterback pressure while Alex Vela finished with seven tackles and a sack.
