Frio County eight-year-old Madison Dugosh will be taking part in her fi rst junior livestock show as a member of the 4H Club when she exhibits her animal project, a rabbit that she has raised and fed. The
annual Frio County Junior Livestock Show will be held at the Showbarn in Pearsall Thursday, Friday and Saturday, January 29-31, and will include steers, heifers, hogs, goats, lambs, rabbits and the Country
Store of handmade goods and foods.

Crossing the Nueces: Cotulla annexes acreage for development

Cotulla city councilors took a historic step in finalizing annexation proceedings last week, marking the first time that the municipal boundary has crossed the Nueces River. Long regarded as a demarkation line and subject to conflict between the United States and Mexico in the 1840s, the Nueces River now lies within Cotulla city limits at the point where the former Pan American Highway, also known as Old Hwy 81, crosses it between downtown and an intersection with IH-35.

Chris and Jackie Meyer, owners and operators of the Ace Hardware store in downtown Cotulla, joined their staff on Saturday, January 3 in celebrating the eighth consecutive annual award for being ranked at the top in customer satisfaction in the home improvement retail industry by the national corporation, as awarded by the JD Power & Associates market research group. The Meyers served food and refreshments to their customers on Saturday and chances to earn a number of prizes as part of the celebration and displayed the trophies that the company has won.

Varsity cheerleaders from Pearsall, Dilley and Cotulla high schools are in London, England, this week to take part in the New Year's Parade and have spent several days sightseeing in the capital, visiting historic places and being led on tours as well as stepping out on their own to explore the city
