Senon Cruz

Senon Cruz died on May 16, 2019 at the age of 62. He was born on February 14, 1957 to Jesus and Manuela Cruz.

Cruz is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Sabas Cruz and Jesus Cruz.

He is survived by his spouse Mirta R. Nunez, sons Dwayne Cruz and Senon Cruz, grandchildren Emma Cruz and Sydney Cruz and his siblings Francisca (Santos) Garcia, Juan (Maria) Cruz, Oscar (Rosalva) Cruz, Santos (Melissa) Cruz and Angel Cruz.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 24, at Peters Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, May 25, at 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Cotulla East Cemetery.

The family entrusted all funeral arrangements to Peters Funeral Home, Cotulla.

Donald Brown

Donald Vestor Brown, of Dilley, died Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the age of 70. He was born August 29, 1948, to Melvin and Mary Evans Brown and is preceded in death by his father.

Donald is survived by his wife Carla Brown, mother Mary Dean Brown, both of Dilley; daughters Brandie Marie Desantiago of San Antonio and Cassandra Ann Brown of Dilley, brother Roger Brown of Orange Grove and his grandchildren Garrett Martinez of Pearsall, Colton Martinez and Justin Franklin, both of San Antonio.

Memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 27, at the First Baptist Church in Dilley. Services concluded at the church.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City 73123.

There will be no visitation at the Hurley Funeral Home in Pearsall prior to service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hurley Funeral Home in Pearsall.

Armandina Avila

Armandina Ramirez Avila, 85, of Temple, formerly of Cotulla, died on May 7, 2019.

Armandina was born on April 20, 1934 in Villa Hidalgo, Coahuila Mexico to Guadalupe Ramirez and Pedro Arce.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Andrea Hernandez, son Alfredo Avila, granddaughter Rosanna Avila and great-grandson Saul Garcia Jr.

She married Manuel N. Avila on February 28, 1950. Armandina and Manuel remained inseparable for 70 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and raising her children and grandchildren. The family says she was a beloved wife, loving mother and grandmother.

Armandina is survived by her husband, sons Homero Avila of Hobbs, NM., Manuel Avila Jr. of Giddings, and Hugo Avila of Douglasville, GA., daughters Angelica West of Del Rio, Hortencia Del Toro of Cotulla, and Armandina Clark of Temple. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mildred Toalson

Mildred (Millie) Alberta Winn Toalson, 90, of New Braunfels, formally of Pearsall, died on May 9, 2019.

Millie is preceded in death by her parents, William V. and Mildred H. Leroux Winn; her husband, Wilburn Turner Toalson; sister Dorothy Hill Nicholson.

She is survived by her twin brother William A. Winn of San Antonio; her daughters Barbara (Johnny) Curtis of Pearsall, Debra (Paul) Graf of Spring Branch, and Mary Ann (Steve) Sutton of Corpus Christi; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 25 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Pearsall. Rev. Brian Blackburn will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Pearsall.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hurley Funeral Home, Pearsall.

Jesus Rodriguez

Jesus (Jesse or Chuy) Rodriguez, died at the age of 60 surrounded by his family.

Jesus was born April 1, 1959 in Cotulla, to Santos and Josefa Rodriguez. Upon moving to Wisconsin, he married Rachel Perez on September 29, 1979. Together they raised two sons, Cesar and Raymond and one daughter, Rebecca.

Chuy was a proud UAW 1268 member, retiring from the Chrysler Corp. after 30 years of service.

He had a passion for music, especially Tejano music. He loved dancing, gardening, collecting antiques at flea markets. Jesse was an active member of St. Andrews Catholic Church were he served as trustee for SALAS group for many years. He dedicated his life to helping the community.

Chuy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Peter, Jose and Freddy and one sister, Velma.

Kordero Davila

Kordero Marteen Davila of Pearsall died on Thursday, May 16, 2019, in San Antonio. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Antonio and Seleta Davila, and Hilario and Leonor Valenzuela; uncles, Eduardo and Jose Clemente Davila.

He is survived by his parents, Louis Alberto and Maria Davila; his wife, Natalie; daughter, Isabella Maria Davila; brother, Ruben Robles; sisters, Krystall Maldonado and Raquel Moreno; uncles, Juan and Rudy Davila; aunts, Juanita Davila Matta, Alice Davila and Lisa Davila Palomino; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was a humble, caring and compassionate man that cherished his family and friends. His passions were weightlifting and helping others.

Billy Turner

Billy (Bea) Gray Turner, 58, of Moore died on Sunday, May 12, 2019 in San Antonio, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Billy was born August 8, 1960 in Victoria, to William Earl Turner and Bobbie Allen Turner.

Billy is preceded in death by his father, William Earl Turner.

Billy is survived by his mother, Bobbie Allen Turner; brother, Wesley (Top) Earl Turner and Mona; sister, Barbara (Sis) Jean Evans and Calvin (Bully); nieces, Brandy Evans, Misty Turner, Sherri Pundt; nephew, Jamie Evans; great-nieces, Berklee Bourcier, Aubree

Juan Silva

Juan Ruben Silva, 57 of Pearsall, died on April 29, 2019 at his home. He was born on June 12, 1961 in Pearsall to Eusebio Silva Jr. and Maria Elena Chavera Silva. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his siblings, Armando Chavera Silva of Crystal City, Debbie Silva Guajardo, Norma Chavera Silva and Brenda Silva all of Pearsall; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 10, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 10 a.m. Interment will follow at the Frio County Cemetery

Maria Olguin

Maria Otila Ogluin, 77 of Pearsall, died on May 2, 2019 in San Antonio. She was born on February 22, 1942 in Mexico to Juan Pizarra and Julia Castro Pizarra. She is preceded in death by her husband, Americo Olguin, parents and numerous brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children, Juanita Hinojosa of Pearsall and Americo Olguin Jr. (Rocio) of San Antonio; brothers and sisters, Osvaldo Pizarra of Austin, Juanita Guardiola (Pablo) of Cotulla, Enrique Perez (Vickie) of Monclova, Mexico, Pablo Perez (Evangelina) of Sabinas, Mexico and Luis Pizarra (Maria) of Pearsall; grandchildren, Valerie Reyes, Juan Alfredo Hinojosa Jr., Robyn Castro, Nancy Hinojosa and Sharel Olguin; nine great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Guadalupe Luna

Guadalupe Saldivar Luna died April 22, 2019 in Corpus Christi. She was born on December 15, 1941 to Luis Saldivar and Manuela Lopez Saldivar.

She is preceded in death by her husband Alfredo Luna Jr. and her son, Alfredo Luna III.

She is survived be her daughters, Dolores Debra and Wayne White, Irene and Michael Navarra, Veronica and Jerry Miranda, Nancy and Arlen Parkey, Blanca and Phil Hale; son, Alfredo Aaron Luna; five grandchildren and four great granddaughters.

She married Alfredo Luna on February 14, 1959.

She worked for the Cotulla Independent School District for 43 years.

Visitation was held on Saturday April 27 at 9 a.m. at Cage Mills Funeral Home, Corpus Christi. Services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday April 27, Interment was private.
