Gilberto Carrizales

Gilberto Carrizales, 40, of Dilley, died on November 27, 2018 in Reeves County. He was born on August 20, 1978 in Dilley to Reynaldo Carrizales and Esperanza Zepeda Carrizales.

He is survived by his parents of Dilley; brother, Reynaldo Carrizales Jr. and wife, Veronica of San Antonio; Marie Garza, and nieces and nephews, Allison, Adrian, Carlos, Douglas and Katherine.

Visitation was held on Friday, November 30, at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels-Dilley from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass was celebrated on Saturday, December 1, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Dilley Cemetery.

Ramon Aranda

Ramon Jorge Aranda, 72, of Dilley, died on November 29, 2018 in San Antonio. He was born on May 10, 1946 in Colombia, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Aguiles Aranda and Herlinda Gutierrez.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ismael Valdez.

He is survived by his wife, Oralia Aranda of Dilley; children, Ramon Jorge Aranda and wife, Elvia Martha of Natalia, Ruth Lidia Aranda, Elisa H. Ramirez and husband, Albert, Eric Aranda and wife, Cynthia and David Aranda, all of Dilley; brothers, Roberto Aranda and Leopoldo Valdez all of Dilley; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; along with numerouse nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, December 3, at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapel-Dilley from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service held at 7 p.m. Funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 4, at Belen Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Dilley Cemetery.

Jose Villarreal

Jose Manuel “Boy” Villarreal, died on October 24, 2018, at the age of 66 in Upland, California, after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer.

Boy was born on August 4, 1952 in Pearsall. He is preceded in death by his mother, Refugia “Cuca” Gonzales; his father, Jesus Villarreal; brother Patrick Villarreal and step-father Martin Gonzalez.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years; two sons; daughter; his sisters Virginia Villarreal of Immokalee, Florida, Amy Gonzales of Austin, Dorothy Gonzales of San Marcos; two brothers, Danny and John Villarreal of Pearsall; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in California.

Cirilo Martinez

Cirilo D. Martinez, age 79, of Pearsall, died Saturday, November 10, 2018, in Pearsall. He was born in Dilley on February 9, 1939, to Conception and Carmen Martinez.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Panfilo Martinez.

Cirilo is survived by his wife, Dominga Martinez of Pearsall; children, Arnulfo Garcia of Cut Off, Los Angeles, Barbie Arriazola and husband Joey of Pearsall, Jose Ramiro Garcia of Pearsall, Lorenza Martinez of San Antonio, Lorena Trevino of San Antonio; sisters, Cresencia Martinez, Esperanza Castillo, Irene Martinez, Mary Martinez, Feliz Martinez and Marcelina Martinez; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Tuesday, November 13, 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Pearsall.

Mass was celebrated Wednesday, November 14, 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall, with interment following at Frio County Cemetery Pearsall.

Maria DeLeon

Maria Cantu DeLeon, 64, of San Antonio, originally of Pearsall, died on November 21, 2018. She was born on December 22, 1953 in Pearsall to Florentino DeLeon and Helena Cantu DeLeon.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Margarita Gonzales.

She is survived by her children, Michelle DeLeon and Juan Manuel Frausto both of San Antonio; brothers and sisters, Augustin DeLeon and wife Sandra, David DeLeon and wife Lourdes, Carlos DeLeon and wife Rosa, Carolina Ramon and husband Rene all of Pearsall, Daniel DeLeon and wife Mary of San Antonio and Irene DeLeon and husband Elijio of Yancy; granddaughter, Kamilla Frausto along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, November 26, at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass was held on Tuesday, November 27, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Frio County Cemetery.

Enrique Briseno

Enrique Elizondo Briseno, 70, of Pearsall, died on November 20, 2018. He was born on January 4, 1948 in Pearsall to Pedro Briseno and Apolonia Elizondo Briseno.

He is preceded in death by his father and brothers, Jimmy Briseno and Uvaldo Briseno.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Davila Briseno; children, Rebecca Briseno of Irving and Juan Enrique Briseno of Pearsall; mother, Apolonia E. Briseno of Pearsall; siblings, Pete Briseno, David Briseno, Pilo Briseno, Augustin Briseno, Diana Briseno and Johnny Briseno; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Friday, November 23, at Trevino Royal Funeral Chapel from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Services concluded at the chapel

Mary Jo Burleson

Mary Jo Burleson died on November 12, 2018 at the age of 91. She was born on March 5, 1927 to Henry Blakeley Yelvington and Anna Pauline Moore Yelvington in San Antonio. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and 5 brothers. She is survived by Mary Mason (James) of Pearsall, Rebecca Macalik (Tony) of Denton, Texas, Joseph Manson Burleson Jr. (Paula) of Pearsall; grandchildren, Trevor Burleson Mason (Austin), Joseph Manson Burleson III (Pearsall), Sean Braedon Macalik (Denton), Tonie Danielle Macalik (Denton); One sister Polly Posey (San Antonio); along with many nieces and nephews. She lived in many different places during her childhood since her father was in law enforcement and moved the family around quite a bit. They lived in Zapata, Laredo, and Sayers before settling in San Marcos. She graduated from San Marcos High School, and from Southwest Texas State Teacher’s College in 1950.

Juan Vidal Corona Jr., 51 of Pearsall, died on November 5, 2018 in Pearsall surrounded by his family. He was born on June 26, 1967 in San Antonio to Juan Vidal Corona Sr. and Isabel Morales Corona. He is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Rose Selene Corona; children, Bidal “BJ” Juan Corona and Angelina Salazar, Kristina Marie Corona Gauna and Armando Jr., Kassandra Isabel Corona and Ambrosio Garza, Alvaro Samuel Corona and Diego Omar Corona all of Pearsall; brothers and sisters, Maria Nieto and husband Abel of Pearsall, Sonia Fuentes and Ramon of San Angelo, Esther Almaguer of Mission, Ray Corona of Beaumont and Amparo Corona of San Angelo; grandchildren, Isaiah Rey Soto, Adrian Corona, Anthony Corona, Krystlynn Carrizales, Riley Carrizales and Armando Gauna III; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Saturday, November 10, at Templo El Olivar from 2p.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Teresa Gonzales

Teresa Lynn Powers Gonzales, age 52 of Ingleside, died Thursday, November 1, 2018, in Portland. She was born in Corpus Christi on September 16, 1966, to Robert Wayne Powers and Linda Lou Talbert. She is preceded in death by her father; her husband, Gregorio Gonzales Jr. She is survived by her sons, Matthew Ryan Cadena (Yvette), Johnny Ray Candena (Sheena), Joshua Aaron Cadena (Angela) all of Corpus Christi, Gregorio A. Gonzales III and Anthony A. Gonzales of Pearsall; her mother, Linda Lou Essary; brothers, George Allen Powers, Christopher James Essary all of Amarillo and Austin Wayne Powers of Lott; sisters, Donna Odom of Ingleside, Patricia Powers of Lott and 16 grandchildren. Visitation was held Saturday, November 10, in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 11, at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Catholic East Cemetery.

Delbert Morris

Delbert Loren Morris died on November 7, 2018, at the age of 93. Delbert was born to Madison (Matt) Morris and Gertrude Morris on August 9, 1925, in Armel Colorado. He was preceded in death by his wife Elnora; infant son, Frank Madison Morris; his parents Matt and Gertrude Morris; sisters and brothersin- law, Marie Stone and Phil Stone, Marilyn Bullard, and Robert Johnson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jennie Lou See and Chester See, Nellie Ede and Woodrow Ede, Bessie Hossman and Curly Hossman, and Hugh Gray. He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Morris and Marsha Morris of Tomball, Texas; granddaughter Emma Schoenemann of Livingston, Texas; his sister Carolyn Johnson of Lakewood, Colorado; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Dolly Gray of Miami. Delbert enlisted in the Navy, upon graduation from high school, where he was a radioman on the USS Pickens, a troop transport ship that delivered Marines to Iwo Jima.
