Santiago Chavera

Santiago Chavera Jr., of Pearsall, died on Friday, April 5, 2019, at the age of 59.

He was born November 5, 1959, to Santiago and Carmel (Carrizales) Chavera Sr. and is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alfredo Chavera and his sister, Isaura Martinez.

Santiago is survived by his children, Santiago Chavera III, Becky Chavera Ramirez and Elizabeth Cumpian, all of Pearsall, Juan Santiago Cumpian and Jay Rey Cumpian, both of San Antonio; his brother, David Chavera of Pearsall and his 17 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 11, in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall. Services will conclude at the church.

Arrangements under the direction of Hurley Funeral Home, Pearsall.

William (Billy) Neal

William (Billy) Howard Neal Sr., died on March 29, 2019, at the age of 96 at his home in Pearsall. He was the third son born to Arnold A. and Lady Carpenter Neal on September 16, 1922 in Pampa, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years LaNelle; his parents, and brothers, Robert, Joe, and Milton.

He is survived by son Howard and wife Gail, and son Larry and wife Linda; five grandchildren, Jennifer Mings and husband Mike, Michael Neal and wife Erin, Leah Jones and husband Ross, Matthew Neal and wife Aren, Brian Neal and wife Amanda; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers Fred, Wilson and wife Janis, James and wife Coleen, Charles, Iven and wife Ruby; sister Frances Fitzpatrick; sisters-in-law Beverly Neal, Pat Dubois, and Pat Little; along with many nieces and nephews.

He married LaNelle Little on February 15, 1947 and they raised two sons, Howard and Larry.

Medeline Henley

Madeline C. Henley age 87, of Devine, died Tuesday, April 2, 2019 in Devine. Madeline was born October 20, 1931 in Cisco, Texas to James Carlton and Willie Mae Johnson Carlton.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Henley; parents, James and Willie Mae Johnson Carlton; brother, Virgil Ray Carlton.

Madeline is survived by her sons, Jackie Don Henley of Pearsall, John David (Tammi) Henley of Devine; daughter, Rhonda Butler of Devine; grandchildren, Greg, Jenny, Jacob, Josh, Steven, Jackie Jr.; five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 5 at 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. First Baptist Church Devine, with internment to follow in Pearsall Cemetery.

Ramon Elizondo

Ramon C. Elizondo, age 75 of Derby, Texas died Sunday, March 31, 2019, at his home.

He was born in Pearsall on August 31, 1943, to Leopoldo and Juanita (Cantu) Elizondo and is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucia Garcia; his brothers, Roberto Elizondo and Donaciano “Chano” Elizondo.

Ramon is survived by his wife, Maria D. Elizondo of Derby; John Burks III of Norman, OK, Jeremiah Burks of Conroe, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews; sister, Irene Hernandez of Pearsall; brothers, Manuel Elizondo of Pearsall and Jose Elizondo of Lockhart.

Visitation was held Tuesday, April 2, in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the Prayer Service at 6 p.m. A celebration of his life was held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the Templo El Olivar in Pearsall with interment followed in the Derby Cemetery.

Juan Solis

Juan Jose Solis, 63 of Pearsall, died on March 20, 2019. He was born on February 6, 1956 in Coahuila, Mexico to Jose Solis Hernandez and Gloria Robles Resendes.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Englatina Trejo Solis of Pearsall; children, Jose J. Solis, Jorge Solis, Marco Solis and Ruth Solis; siblings, Javier Solis, Rosario Solis, Armando Solis, Gloria Solis, Daniel Solis and Eliaser Solis; nine grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday, March 24, at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Services concluded at the chapel.

Guadalupe Ordaz

Guadalupe Espinosa Ordaz, 76 of Pearsall, died on March 15, 2019. He was born on August 13, 1942 in General Escobedo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Pedro Ordaz and Ramona Espinosa Nunsio.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his children; Hector Ordaz Fuentes and San Juana Ordaz Fuentes both of Nuevo Leon, Mexico; three sisters; along with numerous cousins and friends.

Guadalupe worked many years as a welder at the Pearsall Machine Shop.

Visitation was held on Saturday, March 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held at Jardin de Recuerdos Panteon in Nuevo Leon, Mexico at a later date. Anyone wishing to leave condolences may do so online.

James Fudge

James E. Fudge, age 78 of Pearsall, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, in Natalia.

He was born in Pearsall on April 1, 1940, to Albert Lester and Ruth (Patterson) Fudge.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolee Stacy Fudge; brothers, A.L. Pete” Fudge, David Eugene Fudge and his sister, Ima Jane Montgomery.

James is survived by his son, James Dean Fudge of Bastrop; daughter, Deanna Lee Fudge of Del Rio; brother A.D. Fudge of Eagle Lake; sister, Nancy Sadler of Bigfoot; grandchildren, Kalyn Rodriguez of Millet, Lauren Navarro of Corpus Christi, Shawn Cantrell of La Coste; his great-grandchildren, Aden W. Rooks, Sophia Rodriguez and Maddox Rodriguez.

Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at the First Baptist Church in Pearsall. Services will conclude at the church.

There will be no visitation at the Hurley Funeral Home in Pearsall prior to service.

Helen Fryar

Helen Theresa Fryar, age 97 of Pearsall, died Thursday, March 21, 2019, in Uvalde.

She was born in Kingsville on July 20, 1921, to Henry Earl and Isla (Gallagher) Rogers.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Fryar; daughter, Helen T. Stevens and her ten siblings.

Helen is survived by her sons, James H. and Aubrey Fryar III of Port Aransas, Timothy M. and Sandra Fryar of Lytle; daughter, Bernadine M. and Kenneth Coleman of Crystal City; sister, Wanda Myers of Temple; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and thirteen greatgreat- grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 29, in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Pearsall from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Rosary will be recited Saturday, March 30, at 1 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Pearsall Veterans Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hurley funeral Home, Pearsall.

Maria Bermea

Maria G. Bermea, of Leander, originally of Charlotte, died on March 19, 2019.

She was born on March 1, 1934 in Hindes, Texas to Alejos Garza and Bitoria Briseno Garza.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ramon M. Bermea; son, Raymond Bermea; parents; grandson, Rudy Leija and numerous brothers.

She is survived by her children, Lorenzo Bermea and wife Mary Ann of Charlotte, Angie Leija and husband Andres of Pearsall, Roy Bermea and wife Lana of Leander, Jo Ann Saenz and husband Robert of Cedar Park; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, March 21, at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service held at 7 p.m. Funeral service were held on Friday, March 22, at the First Assembly of God Church, 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Chilipitin Cemetery.

Alfredo Velasquez

Alfredo L. Velasquez, died on March 12, 2019 at the age of 59. He was born on August 24, 1959 to Francisco and Belia Velasquez.

He is preceded in death by his father, Francisco R. Velasquez and brother, Andres Velasquez.

He is survived by his wife, Elisa R. Velasquez; mother, Belia L. Velasquez; daughters, Heather Velasquez (Jason Garza), Roxanne Velasquez, Cassandra Velasquez; siblings, Francis Carbajal, Humberto (Esperanza) Velasquez, Francisco Velasquez and Juan Velasquez; 11 grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 19, at Peters Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Funeral Services were held at Peters Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 19, at 12 p.m. Interment followed at the Cotulla Southwest Cemetery.
