Humberto Elizondo

Humberto Carrizales Elizondo Jr., 37 of Pearsall, died on April 27, 2019 in San Antonio. He was born on January 22, 1982 in Pearsall to Humberto Elizondo Sr. and Rosario C. Elizondo.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Tiburcio and Anestacia Carrizales and Silverio and Candelaria Elizondo; uncles, Gilberto Elizondo and Amador Elizondo.

He is survived by his parents; sister, Cecilia C. Elizondo; nephew, Joshua Joaquin Elizondo; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers included, Jennifer Maldonado, Brittany Jasso, Tony Jasso, Johnnie Carrizales, Abel Elizondo, Eli Elizondo Jr., Eric Elizondo and Steve Elizondo.

Honorary Pallbearers included, Alex Maldonado Jr. and Joshua Joaquin Elizondo.

Maria Alaniz

Maria Isabel Perez Alaniz, 73 died surrounded by her family in Hondo, on April 27, 2019. She was born on May 18, 1945 at the Corralitos Ranch in San Ygnacio, Texas to Tomas and Feliz Perez.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Leonard Sandoval Jr.; brothers, Tomas Perez Jr., Arturo Perez, Mauro Perez, Raul Perez and Jose Perez.

Maria is survived by her husband of 54 years, Antonio; children, Antonio “Benny” Alaniz of Dunlay, Texas, Norma Alaniz of Corpus Christi, Adan (Lally) Alaniz of Hondo, Marisol Alaniz of Windcrest, Alma (Jimmy) Albarado III of Leakey, Adrian Alaniz of Dunlay Texas, and Christian Alaniz of Cotulla; 23 grandchildren; along with numerous great grandchildren as well as her siblings, Evangelina Garza and Alfredo Perez.

Maria Martinez

Martinez, 62 of Pearsall, died on April 28, 2019 at her home. She was born on August 19, 1956 in Pearsall to Juan Hinojosa and Maria Vasquez Hinojosa. She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Khalia Roman and siblings, Domingo Hinojosa, Susanna Ovalle, Juan Hinojosa, Albert Hinojosa, Raul Hinojosa and Vicenta San Miguel.

She is survived by her husband, David Martinez of Dilley; children, Janie Kimberly Martinez, Lee Ann Martinez, Mary Elena Martinez, Kaycee Martinez (Abel Roman), David Martinez Jr. (Ronnica Rodriguez), Laura Li Martinez (Jeremy) and Kody Martinez; siblings, Juanita Morales, Irene Morales, Bentura Hinojosa and Feliz Alejandro; 12 grandchildren; along with numerouse nieces and nephews.

James Jones

James Willis Jones, age 59, of Dilley, died Saturday, April 20, 2019, in Dilley.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Nell Marie Purseley.

James is survived by his wife Maria Jones, daughters Kimberly Chavana Franklin, Christina Jones Goodwin, Kathrine Nicole Jones and his brother, Mike Jones and three grandchildren.

Visitation was held Tuesday, April 23, in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Pearsall from 5 to 9 p.m. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dilley. Interment followed at the Dilley Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Rene Lozano, Desmond Lozano, Chris Egula, Joseph Franklin Jr., Juan Munoz and Randall Ruel Jr.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hurley Funeral Home, Pearsall.

Clara Jones

Clara Edith Gulley Jones died peacefully in her country home near Fairfield, Texas on March 12, 2019 at the age of 86 years.

Clara was the fourth child and first daughter born to Charles Andrew “Charlie” Gulley and his wife Eunice Stracener Gulley on September 5, 1932 on their farm near Gardendale, Texas.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents Charles Sr. “Charlie” and Eunice Stracener Gulley; three brothers Calvin (Tillie) Gulley, Bill (Lahoma) Gulley and Charles Jr. “Cotton” Gulley, along with “brother” cousin Jimmie Lee (Mildred) Gulley and his sister Bernice Gulley Holmes.

Alicia Gonzalez

Alicia G. Gonzalez, 81 of Dilley, died on April 20, 2019 in San Antonio.

She was born on November 11, 1937 in Cotulla to Jose Maria Garcia and Paula Mendez Garcia.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Maria Louisa Martinez, Hortencia Tovar, and Maria Ourelia Benavides.

She is survived by her children; Jose A. Gonzalez Sr. and Diana of Cotulla, Victor Gonzalez and Raquel S. of San Antonio, Sandra Guerra of Dilley, Marcella Gauna and Vidal of Cotulla; along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapel-Dilley on Thursday, April 25, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass was held Friday, April 26, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Interment followed at the Dilley Cemetery

Jose Fonseca

Jose C. Fonseca, 80 of San Antonio, originally of Dilley, died on April 21, 2019 at his home. He was born on July 28, 1938 in Divot to Adan Fonseca and Seferina Collazo Fonseca.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Moises, David, Florencio, Saul, Samuel, Eva, Inosencia, Elida, Sara, Isaias and Juana.

He is survived by his wife, Ofelia M. Fonseca of San Antonio; children, Joseph Adam Fonseca and wife Blanca (Garcia) of San Antonio and Rosemary F. Segura and husband Robert of San Antonio; brother, Abraham Fonseca of Dilley; Sylvia Medina, Nathan Medina and his many nieces and nephews.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 26, at Belen Baptist Church from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service held at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 27, at Belen Baptist Church, 10 a.m. with military honors. Services concluded at the church.

Rossi Rodriguez

Rossi Angelique Rodriguez, of Pearsall, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at the age of 16.

She was born April 29, 2002, to Rodney and Roxanne Rodriguez.

She is preceded in death by her grandpa, Rafael R. Ortiz; her papo, Arnulfo Rodriguez and her uncle, Rick Ortiz.

Rossi is survived by her parents; brother, Robert Juarez; sisters, Robin R. Nieto and her husband Abel Jr., Rianne Rodriguez; her grandmothers, Rosa Ortiz and Margarita Rodriguez; uncles, Ralph Ortiz Jr., Raymond Ortiz and wife Ana and Nandy Rodriguez and wife Adela; aunts, Odelia Chambers and husband James, Yomeida Torres and husband Frank; nieces Jenavie Juarez, Kailani Nieto along with many cousins.

Juan Morales

Juan Morales, 79 of San Antonio, originally of Dilley, died on April 16, 2019 in San Antonio. He was born on November 17, 1939 in Dilley to Narciso Morales and Jesusa Vasquez Morales.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Morales; siblings, Mario Morales, Luciano Morales and Dominga Morales.

He is survived by his children, Michael Morales, Jo Ann Morales, Mark Morales, Jessica Mott, Hector Morales, David Morales, John Morales and Pedro Morales, all of Wisconsin; siblings, Lydia Morales of San Antonio, Ester Morales of Michigan, Abel Morales of San Antonio, Guadalupe Morales of San Antonio, Sylvia Antu of San Antonio and Maria Ybarra of Castroville; along with numerous grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 20, at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapel in Dilley from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a eulogy at 2 p.m. Services concluded at the funeral home.

Vivana Gonzales

Vivana V. Gonzales, 87 of Pearsall, died on April 14, 2019 in San Antonio. She was born on December 2, 1931 to Roman and Florinda Castaneda Viesca.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Victor Gonzales; son, Martin Gonzales; son-in-law, Arnulfo Patino and brothers, Roman Viesca, Luis Viesca and Valentin

She is survived by her children, Juan Victor Gonzales, Belinda Patino, Rosa Longoria (Rudy), Roman Gonzales, Florinda Reyna (David), Viviana “Maya” Gonzales; brothers, Victor “Quate” Viesca and Miquel Viesca; daughter-in-law, Barbara Gonzales; brother-in-law, Sammy Gonzales Sr.; 23 grandchildren; 34 greatgrandchildren; two greatgreat-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers included; Martin Gonzales Jr., David Reyna Jr., Arnulfo Patino Jr., Luciano Longoria, Joe Vic Reyna, Reece Guerra, Abram Garcia and Juan “yoyo” Gonzales.
