Rodolfo Guerra

Rodolfo Guerra, 72 of Pearsall, died on October 11, 2018 at his home. He was born on January 26, 1946 in Laredo to Rodolfo R. Guerra Sr. and Herlinda Arechiga Guerra.He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Maria Teresa E. Guerra; children, Amanda Guerra and John Paul Guerra and wife Marilyn;brother, Roberto Guerra and grandchildren, John Paul Guerra Jr., Allison Guerra, Brianna Guerra and Kristina Morado. Visitation was held on Monday, October 15, at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass was celebrated on Tuesday, October 16, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 10 a.m. Services concluded at the church. Benito Gutierrez

Benito L. Gutierrez, age 69 of Pearsall, died Sunday, October 14, 2018 in Pearsall. He was born in Pearsall on March 21, 1949, to Asencion Sr. and Anasticia (Luna) Gutierrez He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Christian Gutierrez.Benito is survived by his wife, Maria Gutierrez of Pearsall; sons, Joel Gutierrez and Benito Gutierrez Jr. both of Pearsall; daughter, Diana Espinosa of Kerrville; brothers, Alberto Gutierrez, Asencion Gutierrez Jr. and Mingo Gutierrez all of Pearsall; sisters, Linda Esquivel, Guadalupe Gutierrez, Victoria Camacho of Pearsall, Tacha Torres of San Antonio, Olga Laredo of McAllen, Alicia Perez and Gloria Gutierrez of Pearsall; grandchildren, Aleigha Gutierrez, Jeremiah Gutierrez, Janessa and Josiah Mendez, Brian Espinosa, Lysett Espinosa, Marcus Gutierrez and Emma Gutierrez.Visitation was held Tuesday, October 16, in the Iglesia Bautista Nueva Vida in Pearsall from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Elida Pedroza

Elida Pedroza died on October 3, 2018, at the age of 49. She was born on January 12, 1969 to Ramiro Manriquez and Elvira Gauna. She is survived by her mother, Elvira Gauna; siblings, Susana (Jose) Ramirez and David (Vanessa) Gauna; nephews, Jares Ramirez, Joseph Ruiz and Jayson Gauna; aunt, Irma Sosa; uncle, Ruben Hernandez along with numerous other relatives. Harry Powell

Harry Lane Powell, age 77, died on Friday, October 12, 2018. He was born on October 15, 1940 in Bay City, to Joel Herman and Minnie Louise Cohn Powell. Harry Lane is preceded in death by his parents; brother Joel Edward Powell; infant brother; sister Dorothy Powell Brown Harvey, and former wife Tommye Raye Powell. He is survived by wife Marsha Bryan Powell; daughter and son in law Samantha and Derril Fanzen; son Sammy Powell; step sons and wives Lance and Lesa Feldhousen, Flint and Brandi Feldhousen; granddaughters and husbands Stephanie and Brian Busby, Savannah and Jeff Moeller, Layne, Logen, and Bryant Feldhousen; great grandchildren Reese, Carter, Banks Busby, Jake, and Sloane Raye Moeller. He was a retired rice farmer and cattle rancher. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Pearsall. Life-long friends are Joe and Martha Jenkins. Burial service were held on Sunday, October 14, at 4 p.m. at Midfield Cemetery in Midfield, Texas with Pastor Hollas Hoffman officiating.

Florence Howard

Florence Evelyn Barnes Howard died on Friday, September 28, 2018 just nine days after her 100th birthday. She was born September 19, 1918. She was married to Earl Howard Jr. on April 20, 1941 and spent her life in Pearsall before moving to Fort Worth 15 years ago. The couple had three children, Earl III, Julianna, and Holly. She was president of the Women’s Civic Club and active in the First United Methodist Church in Pearsall as treasurer of UMW, and Superintendent of the Church School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Jr. and son, Dr. Earl Howard III. She is survived by six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A celebration of life is pending.

Dodson Brake Jr.

Dodson Brake Jr., 58, of Dilley, died on September 27, 2018. He was born in Cotulla, on March 9, 1960 to James Dodson Brake Sr. and Marilyn Sue Parker. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Daryl Brake. He survived by Rebekah Weed of Dilley; daughter, Kari Rebekah Weed of North Dakota; grandson, Samuel Avery Vincent Ramirez Jr. of North Dakota; brother, Alan Dean Brake of Dilley and Donna Sue Brake Upton of Uvalde; along with numerous cousins and friends. Ramon Diaz

Ramon Ramiro Diaz was born on August 31, 1934 in Dilley and died on September 23, 2018 at the age of 84. He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Diaz and Alberta Garcia Diaz; sister, Dora Ortiz, and brother, Ruben Diaz. He is survived by his brother, Juan (Chito) Diaz and wife, Bertha; sister, Minerva Hinojosa; along with numerous nieces and nephews, David Ortiz, Elsa Ybanez, Jean Marie James, Maria Salas, Leticia Moreno, Sonny Hinojosa, Sylvia Diaz, Ray Diaz, Lisa Diaz and their extended families and friends. Ramon always excelled during his school years and became Salatutorian of his high school class. As an avid reader, he retained knowledge in all topics from nature to politics, and as a result, was self-taught in many fields. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the recitation of the Rosary at 12:00 p.m.

Carmen Meunier

Carmen Pena Meunier, 76, of Pearsall, died on September 30, 2018 in San Antonio. She was born on November 3, 1941 in Pearsall to Masedonio Pena and Maria Garza Pena. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward Pena and Pedro Pena; sister, Josefa Rodriguez. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne “Bonnie” Meunier of San Antonio; grandchildren, Matthew Alexander Garza of San Antonio, Breanna Katarina Garza of San Antonio, Alyssa Curtis of Pearsall, Zachary Lopez of Pearsall and Anissa Pena of Pearsall; nieces and nephews, Noemie Villarreal, Masedonio Villarreal, Maria Pena and Samantha Pena, all of Pearsall. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4, at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. with a rosary recited at 2 p.m. Funeral mass will follow at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3 p.m.

Ruben Esparza, 54, of Pearsall, died on September 19, 2018. He was born on August 6, 1964 to Esiquio Esparza and Noberta Deleon Esparza. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Juan Jose Esparza. He is survived by his sons, Esiquio Nathan Esparza of Batesville and Ryan Jordan Esparza of Pearsall; brothers and sisters, Nieves Esparza and wife Herlinda of San Antonio; Domingo Esparza and wife Estella of San Antonio, Felicita Villarreal of Pearsall, Feliz Martinez of Pearsall, Mary Esparza of San Antonio, Antonio Esparza and wife Katherine of Pearsall and Jesse Esparza of Devine; grandchildren, Anthony Vela, Gabriella Esparza, A’vea Esparza, Catalaya Zamora, Luke Zamora and Jocelyn Esparza along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 25, at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapel from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass was celebrated on Wednesday, September 26, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Milton Neal

Milton Leslie Neal died in his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. He was born April 9, 1940 to Arnold and Lady Neal in Pearsall. He was 78 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Robert Neal of Nixa, Missouri and Joseph Neal of Tomball, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Beverly Wright Neal; son Mark Neal (Nancy) of Edna, Texas; daughters Leslie Terrell of Jonestown, Texas and Karen Korenek (Kurt) of Cypress, Texas; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brothers Billy, Wilson, James and Iven Neal of Pearsall, Fred Neal of Midland, Charles Neal of Mathis; sister Frances Fitzpatrick of Odessa; along with numerous nieces and nephews. As the youngest of ten children, he spent his childhood years living on the farm in Pearsall where he learned his work ethic. He attended Texas A&I Kingsville, where he met his wife and began his career in the oil field. He was drafted into the US Army in 1963.
