Teodora Sanchez

Teodora Martinez Sanchez, 82, of Dilley, died on September 6, 2018 in San Antonio. She was born on April 1, 1936 to Francisco Martinez and Delfina Martinez. She is preceded in death by her parents and numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband, Gabino P. Sanchez of Dilley; children, Guadalupe Ruiz of Dilley, Gregorio Ruiz and wife, Janie of Dilley, Maria de Jesus Ruiz of Dilley, Adelina Ruiz Baxley and husband, Jimmy of San Antonio, Dora Maria Ruiz Kyle and husband, Tommy of Carrizo Springs, Maria Lisa Lancaster and husband, Jeffery of Wisconsin, Marisela Hughey and husband, Rick of LaVernia, Carlos Ruiz and wife, Laura of Carrizo Springs, Roberto Sanchez and wife, Margo of Dilley, Jorge Sanchez and wife, Melissa of Pearsall; siblings, Santos Martinez, Speedy Martinez, Lupe Martinez and Suzie Martinez. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and nieces and nephews.

Margarita Ramirez

Margarita G. Ramirez passed away on September 5, 2018, at the age of 83. She was born on June 2, 1935 to Alejandro and Maria Garza. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raul R. Ramirez; parents; siblings, Aurora G. Martinez, Ramon Garza, Manuel Garza and Beatriz Zertuche. Mrs. Ramirez is survived by her children, Raul Ronaldo Ramirez Sr., Reynaldo Ramirez, Raul Ronaldo Ramirez Jr., Francheska Nikole Ramirez and Elvira Elsa Gonzalez; siblings, Valenta G. Rodriguez, Alejandro (Maria) Garza, Rafael (Vicky) Garza, Maria Luisa Carreon and Juan (Rosario) Garza. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Peters Funeral Home from 4:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10:30a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Felipe Morquecho

Felipe D. Morquecho III, 69, of Pearsall, died Friday, September 7, 2018 at his home in Pearsall surrounded by his wife and children. He was born November 15, 1948 to Felipe B. Morquecho Jr. and Marcela DeLeon Morquecho. He is preceded in death by his father; daughter, Belinda Lucia Andrade and his brother, Rogelio (Roy) Morquecho. He is survived by his mother, Marcela DeLeon Morquecho; wife, Maria Elena Morquecho; children, Barbie Cruz, Janie Navarro and husband, Lupe, Betty Morquecho of Dilley, Frank Otis and wife, Selina Andrade of Tularosa, NM, Felipe Morquecho IV and wife, Bonnie of Pearsall and Diamond Esperanza Morquecho of Pearsall; siblings, Jessie Morquecho, Jimmy Morquecho, Lucy Viesca, Mary DeLeon and Janie Neill.

Gabriel Garza

Gabriel B. Garza, 40, of Pearsall, died on September 1, 2018. He was born on February 3, 1978 in Pearsall to Domingo Garza and Amalia Hernandez Garza. He is preceded in death by his mother; brother, Osvaldo Garza and nephews, Willie Marquez and Ronnie Ramirez Jr; grandparents, Manuel and Ofelia Aranda and Luis and Maria Garza. He is survived by his father, Domingo Garza of Pearsall; sisters, Jan Ramirez and husband, Ronny of Pearsall, Wanda Delgado and George Gentry of Houston, Cynthia Erickson of Spring and Silvia Miranda and husband, Jose of Liberty Hill. Juan Cantu

Juan Cantu passed away on September 5, 2018, at the age of 79. He was born on August 4, 1939 to Antonio and Rosa Cantu. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Juan Manuel Cantu; siblings, Florencio Cantu, Noel Cantu, Martha Cantu and grandson, Diego Cantu. He is survived by his wife, Consuelo Cantu and daughters, Melissa (Julio Colchado) Cantu, Cecilia (Juan Hubert) Cantu, Juanita (Abel) Ayala and Jesusita (Juan) Rios. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were, Anita Ayala, Michelle Narvaez, Albert Ramirez, Juid Colchado, Jared Colchado, Nuvia Colchado, Mauricio Colchado Jr., Juan Rios Jr. and Claudia Rios. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Peters Funeral Home from 4:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 78, 2018 at 10:00a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Cotulla East Cemetery.

Estella G. Ramirez, 84, of Pearsall, died Saturday, September 1, 2018, in Pearsall. She was born on August 10, 1934, to Gumecindo and Abelina Garcia. She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Alex Ramirez; daughters, Connie Ramirez, Ester Ramirez and Cecilia Ramirez; her brother, Leandro Garcia. She is survived by her children, Emma Vargas of El Paso, Matias Ramirez Jr. and wife, Marivel of Pearsall, Patsy Jewell and husband, Joe of Houston, Diana Salinas and husband, Conrad of Pearsall, Jesse Ramirez of Pearsall, Mary Vega and husband, Robert Sr. of Pearsall, George Ramirez and wife, Rhonda of Pearsall, Eva Cantu and husband, Herby, Josie Velasquez and husband, Pat of Waco, Priscilla Villarreal and husband, Don of Pearsall and Delia Sambrano and husband, Jesus of Pearsall; sisters, Anita Del Toro of Lubbock, Mr. and Mrs. Manie Enriquez of Hobbs, New Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. Julie Chacon of Pearsall and Maria Garcia of Pearsall; her brother, Gumecindo Garcia Sr.

Maria Briseno

Maria Elsa Briseno, 61, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 surrounded by family in San Antonio. She was born on December 26, 1956 in Dilley to Leandro Briseno Sr and Lilia Veloz. Maria is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother, Leandro (Gloria) Briseno Jr. of Beeville; sisters, Yolanda (Rodrigo) Rodriguez of Pearsall, and Gracie (Frank) Martinez of Adkins; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Maria did not have children of her own, but took part in raising her nieces and nephews, and devoted her life to her family. Pallbearers included, Leandro Briseno Jr, Rodrigo Rodriguez Sr., Juan Santos, Rodrigo Rodriguez Jr, James Maldonado, Emmanuel Maldonado, Miguel Moreno and Richard Lopez. A Rosary was held Friday, August 31 at 7 p.m. at Hurley’s Funeral Home in Pearsall, with visitation from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. A mass at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church was held on Saturday, September 1 at 1 p.m.

Ofelia Roman

Ofelia Roman, died on August 21, 2018, at the age of 78. She was born on January 6, 1940 to Esequiel and Manuela Garcia. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arturo Roman; parents, and her siblings, Olga Chavera and Esequiel C. Garcia Jr. Ofelia is survived by her siblings, Oralia (Edward) Koraleski and Arturo C. (Esther) Garcia; sister-in- law, Belinda Garcia and brother-in-law, Jesse Chavera; nieces, Deborah Hanuroth, Connie (Marc) Blaessing, Karen (Mike) DeMar; ephews, Anthony (Trish) Garcia, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation was held on Monday, August 27 at Peters Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, August 28, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Cotulla East Cemetery.

Betty Owen

Betty Faye Owen, 69, died August 4, 2018 in San Antonio. She was born on October 14, 1948 to RB and Willie Faye (Woodward) Owen. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Norman O. Matindale. She is survived be her step-daughter, Lou Ann Hayes and grandson, James Lee Hayes of Carrizo Springs; step-daughter, Rhonda Fay Linehan of Batesville; sister, Sandra Bea Paterson and nephew, RB Cardwell of Carrizo Springs, along with numerous cousins, family and friends. She graduated from Carrizo Springs High School and began her career with the Texas Highway Department in Austin. She subsequently worked at the United States Dept. of Agriculture (Tick Force) and then she invested in a motel in Pearsall. She then moved back to Carrizo Springs and started working for Halliburton and embarked on many successful business ventures in the oilfield business.

Augustine Chavera

Augustine A. Chavera, 70, of Pearsall, died on August 23, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born on November 13, 1947 in Pearsall to Tomas Chavera and Valentina Alvarado Chavera. He is preceded in death by parents; siblings; Tomas Chavera, Angel Chavera, Carmel Chavera, Santos Pena, Maria Reyna, Herlinda Hinojosa and Leonor Vasquez. He is survived by his children, Abel Chavera of San Antonio, Rene Chavera of Lackland, Florida, Angel Garcia Chavera of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Valentina Chavera of Devine and Herlinda Mejia of Houston; along with numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Monday, August 27 at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels starting at 8 a.m. A prayer service was held at 10 a.m. at the chapel. Funeral mass followed at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 12 p.m.
