HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL, WEEK ONE

Cotulla overcame a 19-7 first quarter deficit against a potent La Pryor passing attack behind a strong defensive effort and rallied to win a 34-33 decision in their 2019 season opener last Friday.

“The boys played well, we knew we had a challenge against their quarterback and receivers,” CHS AD and Head Football Coach David Silva said. “I'd said all along, that would be one of the best quarterbacks we'd see all season.”

“We controlled both offensive and defensive lines of scrimmage and we knew we had to win that battle.”

Cotulla picked off three La Pryor passes and racked up nearly 400 yards of offense in the win.

“Defensively, we made the plays we had to at crunch time,” Silva said. “Greg Flores, Eliahs Jones and Zerrick Benavides each had an interception.
