FRIO COUNTY WIC CENTER provides services for women, infants, and children under age 5, Monday to Wednesday, 8 a.m. to noon, 1 to 6 p.m.; and Thursdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center is taking steps to ensure clients’ safety; special procedures are in place. Call (830) 334-0090 for information.

PUBLIC SWIMMING POOL at Martinez Park, 916 Huddleston Street in Cotulla, is open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m. Admission is $2 for all. The pool is heated; showers and lockers are available ($1.50 for a lock). Membership fees are also available, monthly at $30 (with locker $35); yearly at $310 (with locker $340); and for seniors at $250 (with locker $280). COMMUNITY FORUM with Frio County Sheriff Mike Morse will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 16, in the Frio County Community Room at 410 S. Pecan in Pearsall. Topics include damage to private land and financial burdens from illegal smuggling and chases.

TRASH-O-RAMA

TRASH-O-RAMA hosted by the city of Cotulla in drive-up service at Plaza Florita, 7 a.m. onwards until containers are full, Saturday, June 25, allowing local residents to dispose of bulky waste, construction material, metal and lumber, housewares and appliances, car tires and batteries (no brush or limbs; no kitchen or food waste). City crews unload trash from pickup trucks and trailers. The city waste collection station on FM 624 is open Wednesdays and Saturdays.

COTULLA VBS

COTULLA VBS at the First Baptist Church of Cotulla will run Sunday, June 26 to Thursday, June 30 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. for children that have completed Kinder through the sixth grades.
