Jeanie attended Amanda Burks Elementary School. Although she skipped a grade, she was chosen Valedictorian of her senior class. She was awarded a scholarship to Sul Ross College and later attended Texas Woman’s University and A&M University Kingsville. Her grades were excellent and therefore every hour transferred.
She was a parishoner at Coker Methodist Church during the years she lived in San Antonio.
Wheeler and her sister Dorothy are fond of a trip they made to the Holy Land with a group from Coker Methodist Church.
Jeanie enjoyed hunting, especially white-tailed deer, and all outdoor activities. She was also an accomplished bass fisherman and enjoyed spending many hours fishing with her sister in ranch stock tanks. Her stringer would always be full and she would then borrow Dorothy’s.
An immediate family-only private service will be conducted by Hurley Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 302 Center St, Cotulla, Texas 78014.
