COTULLA GIRLS SCORE 65 POINTS, RUN AWAY WITH CHAMPIONSHIP AT INVITATIONAL MEET.
The Cowgirls won their second consecutive powerlifting team title, taking first overall at the Cotulla Invitational Meet last Wednesday, January 18.
Cotulla had six lifters that won their respective weight divisions at the event while five others were second and three placed third.
The team tallied 65 points overall to finish well ahead of second place Pearsall, who finished with 30 points. Dilley was third with 29 points.
Quiana Mendez took first at 123 lbs. with a total lift of 700 lbs., Karla Benavidez was first at 132 lbs. with a lift of 930 lbs., Kate Guzman won the 148-lb. division with a lift of 835 lbs., Kayla Martinez was tops at 181 lbs. with a lift of 705 lbs., Reychel Narvaiz was tops at 259 lbs. with a total lift of 835 lbs. and Syrah Garcia won the super heavyweight division with a total weight of 950 lbs.
Alessandra Garcia was second at 97 lbs. with a lift of 480 lbs., Nayelia Flores was second at 148 lbs. with a lift of 705 lbs., Jocelyn Ramirez took second at 165 lbs. with a lift of 630 lbs., Abygale Gonzalez was second at 198 lbs. with a lift of 800 lbs. and Emily Velasquez finished second at 259 lbs. with a total weight of 630 lbs.
Placing third for the Cowgirls were Emma Reagan at 123 lbs. Bella Linares at 148 lbs. and Nathalia Sada at 181 lbs.
Alejandra Chapa was fourth at 132 lbs. while Remmya Diaz took sixth at 132 lbs. and Reanna Diaz finished sixth in the 148-lb. weight class.
Cotulla will return to action on Wednesday, February 1 at the Dilley Invitational.
