Emergency responders examine a wreck site after the driver of a Ford F-250 pickup truck led Frio County sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed pursuit when they attempted to effect a traffic stop on FM 1581 Wednesday, February 15, ultimately crashing the vehicle into the roadside brush near Roosevelt Street on the outskirts of Pearsall. The sheriff’s office has confirmed that the driver attempted to evade capture in the city by making a U-turn and accelerating towards the city limits, whereupon officers slowed their pursuit because of concerns over public safety. Reports from the crash site have indicated that two individuals climbed from the truck after it came to rest and fled on foot into the brush near the Texas Department of Transportation facility. The incident is listed among at least five such flight attempts and pursuits in northern Frio County within a week. (CURRENT Photo: Manuel Azocar III)
