A Dilley man was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital on Friday after he sustained two stab wounds to his abdomen.
The altercation occurred shortly before 8 p.m. Friday, April 21, on Ann Street in Dilley.
According to a press release by Dilley police on the department’s social media page, officers and Frio County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the west side of town after a large brawl was reported.
A report filed with the Frio County Sheriff’s Office indicates several juveniles were involved in the altercation and many fled from the scene as law enforcement arrived.
The 17-year-old victim was transported to the Dilley helipad and flown to University Hospital in San Antonio.
Police say during the course of interviews with witnesses they were able to gather enough information to determine the suspect in the apparent assault was a 16-year-old girl.
“Officers quickly identified her and made contact with her family,” the police department noted in its press release. “[They] cooperated and brought her to the police department.”
The suspect was later transported to a juvenile detention center where she faces a felony charge for aggravated assault.
Dilley police did not respond to a request for additional information.
