Cotulla split its final two games of the regular season, knocking off rival Dilley in the final to claim the fourth and final baseball playoff spot in District 28-3A action last week.
The Cowboys will now take on the Poth Pirates, champions of District 27-3A, in a bi-district playoff series beginning Thursday, May 4 at Somerset.
Cotulla dropped a 6-0 decision to Crystal City last Tuesday as team’s were jockeying for playoff position down the season’s final stretch.
The team then took on Dilley in the league final and in a tight affair, the Cowboys plated a run at the bottom of the seventh to take the win and secure the final playoff spot.
After three scoreless innings of play, Dilley scored a run at the top of the fourth to go up 1-0. Cotulla answered with a pair of runs to grab a 2-1 lead after four complete innings.

The Wolves added a pair of runs in the sixth to retake a 4-3 advantage. Cotulla once again tied the game with a run at the bottom of the sixth.
The score remained until the Cowboys scored the walkoff run at the bottom of the seventh to win the game.
The team will take on Poth this Thursday at Somerset in a 5 p.m. contest.
