Wolves, Lady Wolves both earn district runner-up spots at 28-3A meet in Crystal City.

Dilley completed a team runner-up sweep in action at the District 28-3A Cross Country Championships in Crystal City on Wednesday, October 11.
Both the Wolves and Lady Wolves finished second overall in their respective divisions at the meet.
All six Wolves’ runners cracked the top 20 individually while Anthony Guerra recorded a career-best time of 16:38 and finished seventh overall.
Chloe Rodriguez sparked the Lady Wolves, as she was third overall and one of four Dilley runners to finish in the top 15 as the girls’ snapped four-year regional qualifying drought.
“The boys and girls both punched their regional qualifying tickets and made a statement for Dilley cross country among the district teams, both finishing behind state-caliber teams in Lytle,” DHS Head Coach Victor Flores said. “Additionally, our JV boys and eighth grade boys’ teams were also district runners-up in their respective divisions, and we had an individual eighth grade district champion in Joshua Montoya. The future looks bright on both sides of the program for the years to come.”
Flores said he was proud of each of his squads as they collected plenty of hardware against some strong district teams.
“The athletes experienced, first hand, the results of hard work,” he said. “It felt good to have the teams bring home four plaques and rack up some hardware to display for their efforts.”
