The Pearsall High School Maverick Marching Band earned a Division I rating of ‘Superior’ at the University Interscholastic League Region competition for 4A classification schools at Rutledge Stadium in Judson, San Antonio, on Saturday, October 14, earning advancement to the Area competition, which was held at Corpus Christi Calallen on Saturday, Oct. 21. The band performed its UIL contest show. “L’Arleseinne” for judges and placed 17th out of 36 high school bands from across South Texas. The top 12 bands advanced to the second round of Area competition, and judges picked seven to advance to the UIL Texas State Finals. Dilley High School’s Mighty Grey Wolf Marching Band and Cotulla High School’s Mighty Cowboy Band competed in the 3A classification Region XI Marching Band Contest at Hondo’s Barry Field on Oct. 14 and each earned Division II ratings of ‘Excellent’ for their performances.
