Dilley Lady Wolves Powerlifting Team
Dilley placed third overall with nine lifters earning top ten placings at the Cotulla Girls’ Powerlifting Meet on Wednesday, January 17.
“I’m super proud of these ladies,” DHS Head Coach Ismael Rocha said. “I really feel like last night was us taking that first step to making some noise at regionals.”
Esmeralda Rodriguez, Aundrea Rodriguez and Maddison Duran all took first in their respective weight classes while Zaylee Martinez was second and Edelyn Rodriguez finished third.
Esmeralda took first in the 132-lb. division with a total ligt of 700 lbs. She posted lifts of 290 lbs. in the squat, 150 lbs. in the bench press and 260 lbs. in the deadlift.
Aundrea was tops in the 220-lb. division with a total lift of 875 lbs. Her lifts included 375 in the squat, 180 in the bench press and 320 in the deadlift.
Duran was tops at 242 lbs. with a total weight of 805 lbs. She tallied lifts of 315 in the squat, 190 in the bench press and 300 in the deadlift.
Martinez was second at 114 lbs. with a total lift of 535 lbs. while Edelyn was third at 97 lbs. with a total lift of 410 lbs.
In other results, Ania Guerra was fifth at 132 lbs., Janessa Mendez and Abriella Kayl were eighth at 114 and 148 lbs. and Kayla Molina was ninth in the 198-lb. division.
Maria Rodriguez also finished 14 for Dilley in the 148-lb. division.
The Lady Wolves will return to action on Wednesday, January 31 to host the Dilley Invitational meet.
