Romelia Cortez, 85, of Pearsall, died on February 25, 2024. She was born December 19, 1938 in Eagle Pass to Jesus Perez and Carolina Galan.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ramon Perez and Ricardo Perez, as well as her husband of 49 years, Francisco Cortez.

Romelia is survived by her sister Irma Guizar, daughters Jackie Lopez (Steve Lopez, DDS), Marina Alcala (Greg Alcala), son Eric Cortez, grandchildren Cristina Lopez, Monica Lopez, Steven Lopez, Jr., Kari Ann Alcala, Christian Cortez, Noah Cortez, Sophia Cortez and great grandchild Nicolas Alcala.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 6 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall at 9:30 a.m. A Rosary was recited at 10 a.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Private interment followed at the Pearsall Veteran’s Cemetery.
