After pausing its childbirth education classes for patients due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Frio Regional Hospital has announced it will be resuming the service on Monday, March 18 through a new partnership with Birthly.

Birthly is an organization that provides expecting parents with broader access to childbirth education in an effort to help them become more informed and confident about their pregnancy. This is done by partnering with certified and experienced childbirth educators through evidence-based teaching.

The goal is to offer expecting parents a roadmap and the latest information surrounding childbirth, so families can make informed choices that are best for them.

Beginning next week, through its partnership with Birthly, Frio Regional Hospital will offer free access to virtual childbirth education classes, allowing patients to access educational resources from their homes.

Patients will have access to a variety of perinatal classes online at no additional cost. All classes are live, meaning patients will have the opportunity to connect through a live video feed with certified and experienced childbirth educators. Birthly Educators will provide interactive teaching on a variety of top-of-mind topics and patients will have dedicated time to ask questions.

Classes currently offered include Early Pregnancy Preparations, Prenatal Education Bootcamp (English and Spanish), Coping and Comfort, Breastfeeding 101 (English and Spanish), Newborn Care (English and Spanish), Perinatal Mental Health, and Pre/Postnatal Movement and Mindfulness.

Each class type is offered multiple times a month meaning patients have flexibility in choosing a time that fits their schedule and can attend classes anywhere virtually via their laptop, tablet, and other mobile devices.
