The Virginia Thompson Pearsall Education Foundation (VTPEF) is recognizing retired educators for their impacts in local communities and honoring them through scholarships and grants awarded to local students and teachers.
The VTPEF serves the schools and communities of Pearsall, Dilley and Devine and the foundation annually awards student scholarships, teacher grants and teacher of the year awards.
This year, the VTPEF is recognizing Pearsall’s Eloy Zapata and Linda Williams; Dilley’s Lea Surles and Judy Wilmeth and Devine’s Mary Long and Barbara Nelson.
“These retired teachers have had an impact when they taught and know all the in’s and out’s of the school districts,” VTPEF Director Lew Thompson said. “The directors of the VTPEF feel it is very important to involve these teachers and their families in the selection of senior students for scholarships. And most importantly the selection of teachers that will be given grants for their classroom.”
These retired educators will be honored by the foundation by having them name a student to be awarded with a scholarship and a teacher with a grant.
