Dilley will host a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Fields of Faith event on Wednesday, October 30, at Gosch Field behind the high school campus from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Fields of Faith is an FCA certified ministry program where athletes gather at sport environments in their communities to challenge their peers to read the Bible daily and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.
The event is open to all surrounding athletes as open invitations have been extended to high school peers in Pearsall and Cotulla and all surrounding communities.
Fields of Faith events usually involve worship, testimonies and responses.
According to the FCA website, Fields of Faith was started in 2002 as Oklahoma FCA Area Director Jeff Martin sought to reach out to the “spectator generation” youth. Utilizing ‘2 Chronicles 34’, the story of King Josiah, an influential teenager, who gathered his people and challenged them to read God’s Word and, as a result, they changed their culture.
The Josiah-influenced dream came to fruition in 2004 when more than 6,000 students gathered on school athletic fields throughout Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas for Fields of Faith.
Established in 1954, FCA’s mission is to challenge coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful platform of sport to reach every coach and every athlete with the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
