Garcia seeks state championship after runner-up finish in 2023.

Cotulla has qualified 16 athletes to the Region 5-3A, Division 2 Regional Meet on Thursday, February 27 at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg.
Qualifying lifters include Alessandra Garcia, Brooklyn Kuenstler, Raeanna Galindo, Emma Reagan, EJ Zertuche, Randi Garcia, Kirsten Briones, Jocelyn Ramirez, Quianna Allen, Roberta Roath, Victoria Rodriguez, Kayle Guzman, Shizuka Roath, Emily Velasquez, Elyssa Gonzalez, and Kamryn Obregon.
Cotulla sent a school record 23 lifters to the regional meet last year and finished second overall at the event.
The Cowgirls then saw six lifters advance to the state competition.
Garcia was a state runner-up in the 97-lb. weight division and the team was second overall at the state meet.
