PEARSALL TRACK & FIELD
Pearsall’s track and field year kicked off with a weather shortened event in Uvalde as the team competed in running events only and then split athletes this past week between the Wildcats Relays in Carrizo Springs and the Border Olympics in Laredo.
“Track has been good so far,” PHS Head Coach Julian Hernandez said. “We were able to go out to Uvalde for running events only, and we took some athletes to Carrizo Springs and others to the Border Olympics.”
Official results from the Border Olympics were not available at presstime although Hernandez had unofficial results from the event.
Steven Herrera was sixth in the pole vault with a height of 10′-6″ while Jose Rocha was 9th in triple jump with a jump of 41′-10″.
The sprint relay team of Dillon Wolfe, Abel Elizondo, Samuel Martinez and Ethan Vela was tenth at 44.45.
The 800 relay squad of Jeremy Rodriguez, Martinez, Abel Elizondo and Jose Rocha finished 11th at 1:34.57.
The mile relay team of Rocha, Ayden Rodriguez, Elizondo and Wolfe also took tenth overall with a time of 3:35.45.
“Our student athletes competed well overall in their respective meets,” Hernandez said. “We have some work to do considering the weather from February hindering our practices and meet cancellations.
“We are looking forward to what we can accomplish in the meets moving forward.”
Pearsall was in action at the Wolf Pack Relays in Dilley on Wednesday afternoon, March 5.
