DISTRICT 27-4A SOFTBALL
With the playoff exit of all teams from District 27-4A from the softball playoffs, members named to the all-district team have been announced with nine players from the Lady Mavs earning accolades.
Senior pitcher Kristen Morales was named the District 27-4A Co-Most Valuable Player while junior Alayna Zapata earned the District Defensive MVP award.
Three athletes earned first-team all-district accolades as senior pitcher Caitlyn Rodriguez, junior catcher Jesslyn Gutierrez, sophomore outfielder Jeralynn Gutierrez made the team.
Second-team all-district honors went to junior outfielder Carly Elizondo, freshman second baseman Jalyssa Vasquez and freshman first baseman Tori Hughes.
Freshman short stop Makayla Hernandez were given honorable mention.
Pearsall went 20-12-1 this season and 9-2 overall in 27-4A, finishing second overall. The team lost to Cuero in the first round of the playoffs, dropping a 2-0 bi-district sweep.
