Vincent Fernandez has been sentenced to 15 years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice correctional facility after he was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
District Judge Russell Wilson handed down the sentence on Wednesday, October 15, four years after Fernandez committed the crime.
The conviction stems from an incident that occurred in May 2021.
The investigation into Fernandez, who was 24 at the time, was opened on August 19, 2021, when Frio County sheriff’s deputies began investigating allegations of sexual assault.
Deputies visited Fernandez at his work to question the man.
During questioning, Fernandez allegedly admitted to being around his underage nieces over a holiday weekend but that the girls had told him they did not want him back at their home in Bigfoot.
Fernandez reportedly told investigating deputies that drinking took place and that he “might have done something.”
Following the investigation and subsequent legal proceedings, Fernandez was found guilty, leading to Wednesday’s sentencing.
