THSPA REGIONAL MEET
Pearsall, Dilley, Cotulla lifters compete at Region V, Division II event this weekend.
Local schools are sending several athletes to competition at the 2026 Texas High School Powerlifting Association Region V, Division II, III, IV Powerlifting Championships in Kingsville, Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14.
Pearsall’s Mark Ramirez and Hunter Gonzalez, Dilley’s Jonathan Eguia, Miguel Suarez, Zaydrian Sauceda, Kaleb Nickels and Nathanial Torres and Cotulla’s Jose Gonzalez, Marco Benavidez, Alec Leija, Ricardo Ruiz, Eduardo Ortega, Ephraim Lopez, Deric Aldaco, Aiden Gonzalez, Johnny Chavera, Jorge Martinez and Anival Ramon will all compete at the regional event this week at the JK Northway Coliseum.
Lifters who rank in the top 12 totals (including any ties at 12th place) for their weight class in each region and in each division qualify for regional competition.
Lifters who qualify for the regional meet may also qualify for the state meet by either finishing first or second (ties at second place result in both lifters advancing to state) in their respective weight class or by posting a qualifying total assigned for the class they are competing in.
