Elizondo
Frio County deputies processed three local men on felony drug charges following separate incidents over the past week.
The first intervention occurred shortly midnight Wednesday, April 29, when deputies observed a black Toyota sedan traveling on the wrong side of the road along Paiz Court. Driver Ethen Jay Gonzales Elizondo, 26, had an open container of alcohol.
A search revealed a bag of cocaine weighing less than a gram in Elizondo’s pants pocket. He was charged with a state jail felony and transported to the Frio County Jail.

Rivas
A second interception occurred the following day, when deputies stopped a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado near the township of Derby just before 1 a.m. Emergency dispatchers confirmed the driver, later identified as 37-year-old David Rivas of Charlotte, was out on a bond for aggravated assault.
A report on the traffic stop indicated Rivas allegedly attempted to conceal a box containing two grams of methamphetamine between the vehicle’s seats. He faces a third-degree felony charge for possession of methamphetamine.
Two days later, at approximately 11 a.m., deputies encountered Luis Gonzales, 36, walking along Oak Street in Pearsall and interviewed him.

Gonzales
Gonzales was found in possession of cocaine; he was charged with a state jail felony and remanded to the Frio County Jail.
“Our priority remains the safety and security of every citizen in Frio County,” Sheriff Peter Salinas said. “These arrests send a clear message – we will continue to proactively patrol our streets and hold those who bring illegal narcotics into our community accountable.”
