At least 27 students and young adults will find work for the summer months in La Salle County this year, as commissioners have announced kick-off for the application process in the annual temporary job program.
La Salle County will pay $11 per hour to those who are accepted into the work program. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and either in high school or enrolled full-time in college or university.
Job distribution this year replicates the range of both indoor and outdoor work opportunities of years past, with some positions opening in the courthouse at the county clerk’s office, the tax collector’s office, the county attorney’s office and in the sheriff’s office. Others include three positions with Precinct 1 Commissioner Noel Niaves, two with Pct. 2 Comm. Jack Alba, three with Pct. 3 Comm. Erasmo Ramirez, and four with Pct. 4. Comm. Raul Ayala. The county’s parks and recreation department and the public swimming pool will also hire summer workers.
Applications will be received through May 15 at the county’s human resource office in the treasury department at the county courthouse, (830) 483-5143, or online at the county’s website. Jobs will begin Monday, June 1.
