Juan Johnny Elizondo Jr.

Juan Johnny Elizondo Jr., 58, died on Saturday, May 27, 2026 at his home in Somerset next to his best friend and pet, Bourbon. He was born on October 1o, 1967 in Pearsall to Carmela Cantu Elizondo and Juan Serrano Elizondo.

He is preceded in death by his father, his son Jon Gavin Elizondo, nephew Jeremiah Serrano Garza, grandparents Juan and Maria Cantu, and Desiderio and Guadalupe Elizondo, along with several aunts and uncles.

Juan is survived by his mother Carmela Cantu-Elizondo, sisters Rosie Elizondo-Telles (Richard), Norma Morales-Elizondo, Valerie Elizondo, son Caleb Pacheco and grandson Jaxson Pacheco, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and one great-great niece, several cousins, aunts, and uncles, friends, former coworkers, Maricella his best friend, and close cousins Rick and Bud.

Remembered as a Gentle Giant, Johnny enjoyed time with his nephews and nieces, often calling them hig babies and tugging on their ears to show affection.

A passionate sports fan, his favorite teams were the Texas Longhorns and Minnesota Vikings.

Johnny dedicated many years in corrections, working with the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center most of his career and retired 22 months ago.

Services were held at Primrose Funeral Home in Pearsall on Wednesday, June 3. Church services were held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall on Thursday, June 4.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Primrose Funeral Services, Pearsall.
