PEARSALL LITTLE LEAGUE
Senior baseball all-stars add Section 3 championship to little league trophy case.
In what is believed to be a Pearsall first, if not the first in several years, the senior league baseball all-stars have won their Little League Texas Section 3 tournament and will now advance to the Texas West State Tournament in Abilene July 8 to 11.

Pearsall’s Senior Division Softball all-stars also won the District 21 championship in Pearsall on Tuesday, June 23 to advance to their Sectional tournament in San Antonio over the weekend. The title a second consecutive one for the squad as the group earned a District 21 title a year ago in the Junior Division.
Pearsall went 2-2 at the sectional tournament at McAllister Park, topping Del Rio twice but falling two times to San Antonio Northwest. The team earned a 12-9 win in their opener but fell 17-14 to Northwest in the second round. Another win over Del Rio put Pearsall in the title game against the San Antonio all-stars once more but the team was on the short end of a 17-1 decision in the championship contest to finish as runners-up.
“Congratulations to our senior girls on being sectional finalists,” Members of the Pearsall Little League said on social media. “These girls and coaches had an amazing little league season, winning a district championship and fighting to make the sectional championship! Pearsall is proud of every single one of yall!”

At San Angelo, Pearsall took on the San Antonio 5 Diamonds all-star squad and earned a quick victory in their opener as the San Antonio squad forfeited the initial contest due to a lack of players. In the double elimination format, Pearsall needed another win to secure the title.
5 Diamonds rallied in the second contest, earning a 16-3 victory to even the series at 1-1.
In a hotly contested third and final game, Pearsall’s defense led the way as the team took a 7-5 decision to earn the championship.
The Texas West tournament will be held at the Wylie Little League/Wylie Softball complex at Lake Kirby Park.
As Section 3 champions, Pearsall will take on the Section 1 winner on Wednesday, July 8 at 8:30 p.m. The winner advances to take on the Section 2 or Section 4 winner on Thursday, July 9 at 8:30 p.m. The losers in both contests fall to the consolation bracket where they will square off at 6 p.m. on July 9.
In the double elimination event, the first opportunity to claim the championship will be on Saturday, July 11 at 11:30 a.m. If needed, another contest is slated for the same day at a time to be determined.
Locally, Pearsall Little League representatives congratulated the team on its accomplishment as did Pearsall Mayor George Cabasos.
“Our Senior Little League baseball team has done it!” he said. “These hardworking young men have earned the honor of representing the city of Pearsall at the state tournament in Abilene.”
Cabasos urged the community to rally around the team and assist in their efforts at the event.
“To get our boys there and keep them focused on bringing home a championship, it takes a village,” he said. “We are reaching out to our amazing community, local businesses, and friends for sponsorships and donations to help cover the costs of hotel rooms and lodging, team meals and tournament nutrition and travel and fuel expenses.”
Cabasos said the team is grateful for any monetary donations or other support such as cases of water, sports drinks or snacks.
“Every single dollar goes directly toward supporting the team’s journey,” he said.
A Cash App link for sending funds is available at $CynnaC10 or Cabasos said donors can message him on his Facebook page, (George L. Cabasos).
“Let’s come together and show these boys that Pearsall is standing right behind them,” he said. “Thank you all so much for your continuous support of our youth.”
