- 4-H ENROLLMENT
4-H ENROLLMENT has begun for the Frio County 4-H program and is open to any student in the third through 12th grade or those age 8 to 18. Fees are $25 per child if enrolled by October 31 and $30 after that date. Enrollment deadline for participation in the 2022 Frio County Junior Livestock Show is November 1. - STUDENT TESTING
STUDENT TESTING will take place at Cotulla High School on the following schedule: The SAT will be given at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, October 2 (registration deadline has passed). Juniors and seniors who receive a free or reduced lunch plan are eligible for up to two fee waivers. The ACT will be administered for 12th graders at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19. 11th graders will participate in the Spring ACT test in April 2022. The PSAT/NMSQT will be offered for all 11th graders at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13. All testing takes place in the CHS Cafetorium.

FALL CLEANUP at Longview Cemetery in Bigfoot will be on Saturday, October 2 starting at 8:30 a.m. Volunteers are needed.
- ‘ALL COLORS’
‘ALL COLORS’ awareness event and fundraising walk for local cancer patients and their families begins with registration at 10 a.m. and walk at noon, Saturday, October 2, at Veterans Park in downtown Cotulla. All proceeds are used to help families in need. T-shirts are distributed; raffles include prizes from local sponsors; walk participation is $20. ANNUAL PECAN SALE for the La Salle County Soil & Water Conservation District in Cotulla runs though Friday, October 29. Call (830) 879-3071, ext 101. One-pound bags of pecan halves, pieces, peanuts (raw, roasted or salted and with and without shells), walnut halves and walnut pieces are available. Proceeds benefit the annual scholarship for a graduating Cotulla High School senior.

HOMECOMING DANCE for Cotulla High School will be from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, October 30, at the La Salle County Fair Association Pavilion on the county fairgrounds. Any guests from other schools or graduates under the age of 20 must be approved in advance and must provide student ID or a driver’s license and purchase a ticket. The deadline is Oct. 26. PUBLIC AUCTION of a large collection of hand-painted china by local artists Nixon and Dillard will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 31, at the First United Methodist Church of Pearsall, 507 East San Antonio Street (across from Frio County Courthouse). The chinaware has been donated to the church; proceeds go to the memorial fund. Public viewing of the pieces is from 9 a.m. to noon every day.
