    CHEERLEADER TRYOUTS at Cotulla ISD for the 2023-24 academic year begin with a mandatory information meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, February 2, in the Betty Avant Cafetorium; interested students in grades 8-11 must bring parents or guardians.     ELECTION for Pearsall ISD school board trustees in expired positions #1, and #2, both for three-year terms and an unexpired position #4, Saturday, May 6. Anyone interested in signing up as a candidate should obtain an application at the PISD Administration Office, 318 Berry Ranch Road. The deadline to file for a place on the ballot is 5 p.m. Friday, February 17.

    SCHOOL BOARD APPLICATIONS are now being accepted at Cotulla ISD for places on the election ballot for trustees in Places 2, 3, 5, and 7 (unexpired term). Prospective candidates may pick up application packets from Jeanette Ramirez at the Cotulla ISD superintendent’s office at 310 N. Main Street in Cotulla.     COLOR RUN 2K hosted by the Dilley Band Boosters as a fundraiser, 10 a.m. onwards, Saturday, February 18, at Dilley High School student parking lot. Admission to run $30, register at 9:30 a.m.; spectators $5, students $3. Festival includes booths, games, foods, refreshments. Visitors douse runners in colored powder. Proceeds go towards a DHS band trip to Florida to study sound engineering, record a performance at Universal, and examine careers in sound and recording.
