- PASTORELA HISTORY
PASTORELA HISTORY as part of the ‘Stories Deep in the Heart of Texas’ Folklife Community Workshop will be shared with the public in the Welhausen School Auditorium beside the Plaza Florita on the east side of Cotulla from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3. The event includes a youth costume contest in the Pastorela style, including shepherds, sheep, devils and angels. All families from La Salle and neighboring counties are invited. Admission is free. DILLEY ISD GOLD PASSES are available to all athletic contests for qualifying residents that are 65 or older. Must present a valid identification card and reside within the district boundaries. Cards are available at the administration offices from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- COTULLA VACCINE DRIVE
COTULLA VACCINE DRIVE Dilley Veterinary Clinic will host a low-cost vaccine drive on Saturday, September 10 from 9 a.m. to noon at Veterans Park in Cotulla. The city of Cotulla will give away 100 free vaccine vouchers at the city office. Vouchers are first-come, first-served. Vouchers are only accepted during the September 10 event.

VENDORS are being sought for a Frio County Farmer’s Market event this Fall. The goal of the event is to promote local and surrounding farmers and provide citizens over 60 and Women Infant and Children (WIC) eligible residents with vouchers for fresh produce. The market is also open to the general public. Exhibitors would need to provide promotional items, educational/informational flyers/brochures, recipes, health and wellness information etc. Feedback is also being sought for an event date. Available dates include October 6, October 28 and early November.
TRASH-O-RAMA hosted by the city of Cotulla, beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, September 17, at the Plaza Florita, allowing all local residents to dispose of bulky waste, construction debris, wood and metal, appliances and furniture, free of charge. Drop-offs are limited to two visits per household, four tires by household. City crews will unload trailers and trucks; Trash-0-Rama ends when all containers are full. Donations of refreshments for the working crews are appreciated. The municipal trash collection station is also open that day beside FM 624.
- BBQ FUNDRAISER
BBQ FUNDRAISER hosted by the Bigfoot Volunteer Fire Department will be held Saturday, September 17 at the Bigfoot Park. BBQ brisket and sausage plates will be sold for $12. There is also a bake sale as well as VFD supporter T-shirts and caps on sale. Items on a bid sheet and ticket auctions are also offered. Crafters are welcome to set up. METHODIST CAFE hosted by the First United Methodist Church of Cotulla will serve free lunches Wednesday, September 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or while supplies last. Meals are offered in drive-up service at the kitchen door on Tilden
Street. There will be no hot meal deliveries on September 21. Hot meal deliveries have been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 28.
- FARMER’S MARKET
FARMER’S MARKET hosted by Frio County will be held along with the regular food distribution on Thursday, September 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at Dilley City Park on Main St. Anyone wanting to set up or just hand out informational packets or resources is invited. Food distribution will be held at 101 Commerce St. in Dilley at 9:30 a.m. One family per vehicle and two per household.
