Clara Horton

Clara Joanne Horton, 72, of Cotulla died on Sunday, December 15, 2019. She was born on September 21, 1947 to parents John Thomas (JT) Pogue and Grace Johnson Pogue of Cotulla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry M. Horton, and brother Jerry Pogue.

She is survived by her brother John Thomas (Tommy) Pogue of Flekkefjord, Norway and wife Marit.

A memorial service was held on January 31 at the First United Methodist Church in Cotulla with Rev. Jesse Franklin officiating.

Horton graduated from Cotulla High School in 1965, studied forms of government and sociology at Texas Lutheran University where she graduated in 1969. She worked in the Texas Social Services system after graduation and attended Steve Hicks School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1976. After retiring from the Texas Social Services, she began working at the Alexander Memorial Library in Cotulla October 1, 1998 until she completely retired on November 29, 2017.
