King named chair of House Natural Resources Committee

District 80 Texas State Representative Tracy O. King (D-Uvalde) has been appointed chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee by the speaker of the house, Dade Phelan.
The announcement was made after Speaker Phelan’s choice on Wednesday, February 8.
The House Natural Resources Committee’s primary charge is to promote the conservation of the natural resources of Texas.
The committee’s jurisdiction includes a number of matters, from the storage and use of water, to the regulation of groundwater districts, oversight of Texas Water Development Board, among several others.
Rep. King was also appointed to serve as a member of the Licensing & Administrative Procedures and the Select Committee on Youth Health & Safety.
“I am honored to serve the communities of District 80 and look forward to our committee being a meaningful contributor to the preservation and wise use of the natural resources of Texas,” King said.
