SOPHOMORE LOPEZ NAMED NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR

Jacob Lopez was named the District 28-3A basketball Newcomer of the Year and was one of six Dilley basketball players named to the all-district team recently.

Lopez, a sophomore, was joined by senior Jorge Herrada, who was named to the all-district first-team and second-team selections junior Benjamin Gonzalez and senior Sebastian Garcia.

Junior Seth Cano and junior Dorian Aranda were both given honorable mention.

Dilley earned a spot in the playoffs, going 4-6 and finishing fourth in district. The team was 8-22 overall and lost a 119-41 decision to regional quarterfinalist Poth in the first round of the playoffs.
