Sylvia Viola Silva Fohn, 79, died on Friday, November 24, 2023, at her home. She was born to Eusebio Silva and Elena Rodriguez Silva on September 27, 1944 in Pearsall.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Maria Alma Silva Ortegon, brothers Eusebio Silva Jr., Ruben Silva and Ramiro Silva, and in-laws Edward Sr. and Rosalia “Chalia” Fohn, Jesus Ortegon, Maria Elena Silva, Fernando Ornelas, Phillip Wolfe and Sylvia Fohn.

Viola is survived by her husband of 38 years, Edward “Kookie” Fohn Jr., siblings Lucia Silva, Rachel Silva, Frances Silva, Connie S. Ornelas and Ramona S. Treviño (Roy), all of Pearsall and in-laws Roberta Wolfe, Eleno Fohn and Josie Fohn Flores (Maurice).

She and Edward Fohn Jr. were married March 8, 1980. Together, they built a life in Yancey and although they never had children of their own, they enjoyed the company of all of their nieces and nephews very much. Viola was a wife, sister, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law and aunt to 18 nieces and nephews and their children.

Visitation was held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Thursday, November 30 at 10 a.m. Rosary followed at 10:30 a.m., and then by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. Interment followed at the Hondo Cemetery, St. John’s Section.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Treviño Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels, Pearsall.
