Pearsall Powerlifting Team
Pearsall’s powerlifting teams both finished third overall at the inaugural meet of the year, the Texas Strength Systems event on January 10 in San Antonio.
The Lady Mavs’ Mariana Urrea and Deranda Talamantes both won their respective weight classes, 132 lbs. and 165 lbs., while Angelina Reyna was second at 105 lbs. and Maddison Luera was second at 148 lbs.
Neela Escobedo was third at 165 lbs. while Audrina Ibarra finished third in the 198-lb. division.
Kingston Martinez was named the Top Male Lifter in the 165-lb. division as he took first overall.
Martinez is the Mavs’ lone returning state qualifier from last season.
Ryan Hughes won the super heavyweight division while Marc Ramirez also took first place at 123 lbs.
The Lady Mavs were in action Wednesday, January 17 at the Cowboys Invitational Meet in Cotulla while the Mavs will compete at the same event but on January 24.
