Roberto S Jimenez (El Viejo Peludo), 76, died on Thursday July 11, 2024 in San Antonio. He was born April 3, 1948 in Cotulla to Pedro Jimenez and Clara Salinas.

He is survived by his wife Isabel Jimenez, siblings Juanita Montemayor, twins Rosa Gonzalez and Margarita Jimenez Chapa, Pedro Jimenez, and Consuelo (Chelo) Garcia, children Clementina Garcia, Christina Garcia, Joanie Jimenez, Raina Garza, Priscilla Ayala, Annabelle Schally, and Jesus Garcia. He is also survived by numerous grandkids, great-grandchildren and many other family members.

Roberto was the owner of Ruby’s Lounge, (Home of the Rattlesnakes, Coyotes, Cowboys & Mexicans) located in Los Angeles, Texas. He was a self-taught musician and songwriter who played multiple instruments such as the accordion, guitar, bajo, saxophone and keyboard. He was played with the likes of Flaco Jimenez, Nick “Nicky Snick” Villareal, Oscar Florentino Tellez, the Texas Tornados, Elaine Garcia band, Joe Vela and many other musicians. He was the founding member of Roberto Jiménez Y Los Nuevos. He also played the accordion at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Cotulla.

His hobbies included riding his motorcycle, fishing, playing his accordion, singing, eating home cooked meals and sweet treats prepared by his wife, dancing, and making people laugh.

Visitation was held on Saturday, July 13 at Peters Funeral Home from 8 to 10:45 a.m. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 13 at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, Cotulla.
