Offense blisters Sabinal for over 500 yards and 25 first downs in rout.
Dilley scored 33 points in the second and third quarters and cruised to a 46-0 rout of Sabinal last Friday in their season-opener at Gosch Field.
Bubba Reyes ran for over 100 yards and three touchdowns as the Wolves’ ground game saw three players eclipse the century mark in the lopsided victory.
“The kids came out focused and took it to them early and often,” DHS AD and Head Football Coach David Silva said. “Our defense played tough and got after it.”
Dilley tallied over 500 yards of offense, all on the ground as they chewed up the yards and the clock and physically wore down the Yellowjackets.
“Offensively, our line dominated and we had three backs go over 100 yards,” Silva said. “We’ve still gotta improve on our conditioning and our kicking game. We have our work cut out for us the next two weeks with Comfort and San Antonio Randolph coming up, but, those are the kind of games we need to get ready for district play.”
Jourdanton transfer Isaiah Lambert made an immediate impact for the Wolves as he led the team with 148 yards on the ground and scored twice.
Jacob Lopez capped the rushing trifecta as he ran for 143 yards and a score for Dilley.
Lambert kicked off the scoring spree, going in from 17 yards out in the first for a quick 7-0 Wolves lead.

Reyes then went off in the second, scoring all three of his touchdowns in the stanza. He broke off a 33-yard run to make it 14-0. He capped a drive with a four-yard score and then went in from five yards out for Dilley as the lead went to 27-0 at the half.
The Wolves effectively put the game away in the third as Lopez went in from two yards out and quarterback Johnny Rodriguez had a ten-yard run as Dilley led 40-0 going into the fourth.
Lambert added a six-yard score in the fourth to cap the Dilley scoring.
Dilley accounted for 538 yards of offense, all on the ground, and 25 first downs as the Wolves’ rushing attack controlled the tempo of the game.
Sabinal was limited to 130 yards of offense and nine first downs.
Dilley took advantage of three Sabinal interceptions but also commited a pair of turnovers.
For a season-opener, both teams kept the penalties to a minimum as the teams combind for only eight infractions.
Rodriguez was o for four passing and had an interception but contributed 79 yards on six carries and a touchdown.
Reyes had 137 yards rushing for the Wolves on ten carries and scored three times. Lambert averaged just over 13 yards per carry on his 11 totes while Lopez also averaged 13 yards per carry for Dilley.
Defensively, Gonzalez, Leve Lopez, Tatum Munoz and Chris Medrano all led the team with five tackles apiece while Troy Gonzalez had a pair of interceptions.
Coaches named Jacob Lopez, Isaiah Lopez and Reyes as the Offensive Players of the Week; Troy Gonzalez and Munoz were the Defensive Players of the Week; Lambert and Quentin Elizondo were the Special Teams Players of the Week and Joziah Ramirez and Miguel Suarez were the Lineman of the Week.
Dilley will travel to Comfort this week to take on the Bobcats. Comfort did not play last week as their scheduled contest with Brackettville was cancelled.
