DILLEY CROSS COUNTRY
Benavides, Hernandez pace Dilley boys at Pete Belman Invitational.
Dilley finished second overall in a field of ten teams while Azaela Espinosa was 19th for the Lady Wolves during action at the Pete Belman Cross Country Invitational in Uvalde on Thursday, September 12.
Sophomore Josiah Benavides and senior Xavier Hernandez both medaled for the Wolves. Dilley was edged out for first by Comstock, a Class 1A state medalist team from a year ago.
The Lady Wolves did not field a full team but Espinosa, a sophomore, continued her impressive season with a 19th place finish.
“This course was a little different for the kids, it had tons of elevation changes but everyone adapted well and competed,” DHS Interim Head Coach James Rodriguez said. “We love to see and experience tons of different courses because it helps our runners learn how to race on all different terrains to prepare them for post district competition.”
