LADY WOLVES VOLLEYBALL
Dilley’s volleyball playoff hopes hit a snag last week after the Lady Wolves dropped a marathon five-set match to Lytle on October 8 and were then swept by Natalia on Friday, October 11.
After losing the first two sets to the Lady Pirates, 17-25, 20-25, Dilley rallied, winning the next two 25-18, 26-24 to even things up 2-2.
In the fifth and deciding set, Lytle earned the win in yet another hard-fought decision, taking a 16-14 decision.
Emily Crain led the team with 13 kills and six aces.
Mia Rendon added ten kills while Mariana Urrea finished with six digs and three aces.
Raegan Furnace had four blocks on the night while Carissa Moreno added three. Arlette Lopez also finished with four digs for Dilley.
Natalia took out Dilley in three straight sets, winning 25-12, 25-9 and struggled in the third before earning the 25-20 decision to earn the sweep.
Needing a win to stay alive for the fourth and final playoff spot, Dilley fell to sixth in the standings at 3-7 with five games remaining on the schedule.
Jourdanton sits atop the field at 8-1 while Crystal City is second at 7-2. Natalia and Hondo are tied for third at 5-3 apiece. Lytle moved into the fifth place spot with a 5-4 record.
The Lady Wolves were at Cotulla Tuesday evening, October 15 and will host Jourdanton this Friday, October 18.
