Domingo Sanchez, 69, of Dilley died on Monday, November 18 in San Antonio, surrounded by his wife and family. He was born in Raymondville to Abundio Sanchez and Ana Maria Guzman on August 14, 1955.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his oldest sister, Bertha “Betty” Zepeda.
Domingo is survived by his wife, children Lisa Sanchez, Perla Martinez (Michael Paul Martinez), Jose Domingo Sanchez (Esperanza Ruiz), Rosemary Sanchez-Ramirez (Robert Ramirez), and Lucero Sutton, siblings Jose Alpha Sanchez, Juan Omega Sanchez, Blanca Nieves De Los Santos, Maria Ester Guerrero Moreno, Jesus Guerrero, and Raul Guerrero, 11 grandchildren Alexandria, Slone, Julissa, Joe Eric, Isaiah, Penelope, Faith, Angelica, Rosemary, Victor Jr., and Luna and one great-grandchild, Marc.
In his early years, he traveled with his parents as migrant workers, working the fields alongside his eight siblings.
Later, he began his career as a truck driver, traveling all over the United States hauling different types of freight and eventually logging millions of miles. His CB radio nickname was “Tobacco Kid.”
Domingo was married to his wife Rosa Margarita Sanchez for 48 years and they moved to Dilley, where they made their home and raised five children. Domingo enjoyed time with his wife and children and they would often take trips, visit extended family, go on vacations with his children and grandchildren, and take spontaneous weekend fishing trips on the coast.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 22 at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels in Dilley from 3 to 9 p.m. A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass was celebrated on Saturday, November 23 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Dilley Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels.
