Catarina Gonzales Uvalle, 81, died on December 1, 2024 at Methodist Metropolitan Hospital in San Antonio. She was born in Dilley on November 25, 1943 to David Gonzales Sr. and Tiburcia Garcia.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sister Lucio Gonzales, Paulino Gonzales, Marcelina Gonzales Cantu, as well as son-in-law Eduardo R. Leal.
Catarina is survived by her children Jesusa U. Torres (Felix Torres), Fransisca U. Leal (the late Eduardo R. Leal), Olivia Uvalle, Mario Uvalle Jr., and is survived by her spouse Mario Uvalle Sr. She is also survived by her siblings David Gonzales Jr. and Domingo Gonzales, her five grandchildren and one great-grandchild plus one on the way, along with several nieces and nephews.
Catarina and Mario would have celebrated 65 years together on on December 13. The couple were wed on December 13, 1959.
A housewife and mother, she was passionate about the outdoors, cared for her plants and chickens along with her two dogs. Plants were her favorite hobby as she cared for her plants and watered them daily. She enjoyed looking at all the birds in her home garden as well. Red cardinals were her favorite. When she wasn’t gardening, you could find her in her sewing room, sewing clothing and quilts for her family.
A memorial service will be held on December 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Primrose Funeral Services in Pearsall. A Rosary will be recited at 1:45 p.m. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
