Antonio “Toñio” Nieto

Antonio “Toñio” Nieto, 71, of Encinal, died on Friday, October 3, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 6, 1954, in Laredo to Eriberto Nieto and Antonia Ponce Nieto.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers Eriberto Nieto Jr., Noe Nieto and grandson Matthew Eugene Mora.

Toñio is survived by his wife Guadalupe Nieto, children Diane Nieto Mora (Eugene Mora III), Antonio Nieto Jr., and Jacqueline Nieto (Isaac Gage), granddaughter Emma Jean Mora and his seven sisters, Amelia Medina, Romana Hearn, Anita Nieto, Ruth Nieto, Queta Valles, Christina Guerra, and Sonia Nieto.

A mechanic by trade he took pride in helping others both on the road and in life. Beyond his work, Toñio enjoyed simple things like sitting around with a good cup of coffee, sharing stories, and enjoying his favorite sweets.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 7 at Peters Funeral Home from 9:30 to 12 p.m. with a Rosary at 10 a.m. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 8 at 11:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, Cotulla.
