Junior earns top ten finish, Viesca places 12th to narrowly miss regional berth.

Dilley’s Josiah Benavides earned a qualifying bid to the Region IV Class 3A Cross Country Championships after nabbing a top ten finish at the District 28-3A meet last week at Gosch Field.
Benavides paced the Wolves with a seventh place finish at the event. The top ten individuals in each division qualify for regional competition.
The regional cross country meet will be on Monday, October 20 in Corpus Christi on the campus of Texas A&M-CC.
Dilley freshman Harvest Viesca narrowly missed out on a regional bid in the varsity girls’ division as she was 12th overall in her field.
“I want to congratulate all of our runners on a good season overall,” DHS Head Coach James Rodriguez said. “It was one full of memories, PR’s (personal records), experiences, laughter, and competition. I also want to congratulate Josiah on punching his ticket to the 2025 Region IV 3A Cross Country Championships.”
The Wolves and Lady Wolves each finished fourth overall as a team in their respective divisions at the event.
Varsity results are as follows: Josiah Benavides, seventh, 17:07, Jose Ortegon, 15th, 18:49, Brazos Viesca, 19th, 19:09, Zaydrian Sauceda, 26th, 20:37, Shawn Rodriguez, 30th, 20:58, Guadalupe Rodriguez, 38th, 21:51, Ethan Hernandez, 42nd, 22:09.
Varsity girls’ results are as follows: Harvest Viesca, 12th, 13:37, Zoey Ortegon, 15th, 13:59, Edelyn Rodriguez, 20th, 14:24, Jaelyn Rodriguez, 28th, 15:07, Jewlea Tate, 34th, 15:46, Angie Mejia, 40th, 17:20, Maddie Proctor, 41st, 18:29.
Dilley’s JV boys were led by Rodrigo Cardenas who placed fourth overall.
JV boys’ results are as follows: Rodrigo Cardenas, fourth, 20:48, Hector Acosta, 21:59, Juan Rodriguez, 11th, 22:59 medalist.
