Manuel Alejandro Garcia Jr.

Manuel Alejandro Garcia Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026. He was born on February 26, 1940, in Cotulla, to Gertrudis Alejandro and Manuel Garcia Sr.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Juan Garcia, sister Irma Garcia, son Manuel Garcia III, and three grandchildren, Rebekah Cadena, Raymond Ybarra, and Jo Anna Canales.

Manuel is survived by his brother Frank Garcia of Clarksville, Tennessee, and by his eight children Jose R. Garcia, Oscar T. Garcia, Irma G. Hernandez, San Juanita Garcia, Christina Cadena, Melinda Rheinfeldt, and Cynthia Luna. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, more than 20 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was raised in Millett and lived in Grand Prairie for more than 30 years before retiring to his hometown of Cotulla. Manuel was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching boxing. He loved to dance and could always light up the dance floor. Known for his wonderful sense of humor, he had a gift for making everyone laugh. Above all, he treasured spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He especially looked forward to sharing coffee and conversation with family and friends who stopped by to visit.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 18, at 10 a.m. at the First Church of Cotulla, at 302 N. Center St. in Cotulla.

Manuel’s laughter, warmth, and love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Las Palmas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the exceptional care, kindness, and support they provided to Manuel in his final years.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Primrose Funeral Services, Pearsall.
